People often want to know what the best food for losing weight is or what the single best exercise for burning fat is. While there are certain foods that you should be eating to lose weight, and there are some better exercises for burning fat than others, the truth is that no one single thing will get you the real fat loss results that you are looking for.
The truth is that if you really want to lose weight and you really want to the kind of results that have a lasting effect, you should be following a program designed specifically for losing weight. I would not recommend attempting to lose weight on your own. You are much more likely to get tired, frustrated, and injured if you go at this alone.
The great news is that you do not have to pay and arm and a leg - hiring a personal trainer and nutrition coach - in order to get amazing results. There are many programs out there that are designed specifically to coach you through your fat loss journey.
In fact, there are even many really effective online programs that have been proven to deliver great fat loss results at really affordable prices. Hiring a personal trainer and going to a gym several times per week may be a great way for you to get into great shape, and if that is the route you would like to go then I am all for it.
However, you have to be fully committed financially if you want to hire a personal trainer, as many tend to charge pretty high prices per session. Again, I would encourage you to seek personal coaching if you can afford it and if you have the time to meet in person on a weekly basis (or several times per week).
Another option you may want to consider would be finding a program online that is already designed and available to download instantly. Many online weight loss programs sell for under $100 dollars (think the cost of two or three personal training sessions), yet provide you all the components and step-by-step instruction to shed pounds at a quick and healthy pace.
What I really enjoy about some of these programs is that they provide both a workout regimen and a nutrition guide, so you pretty much have your fat loss blueprint laid out right in front of you. And as an extra bonus, many of these programs also offer special "members only" areas and online support forums so that if you have any questions or would like to see how other people in your situation are doing, you can hop on at the click of your mouse.
I have no doubt that with the right knowledge and discipline, you can follow a great weight loss program with great results. Online weight loss programs offer all the benefits of many popular weight loss DVDs and courses.
Yet unlike more traditional programs, online weight loss programs are also much easier to access, they are usually cheaper, and they also usually offer some sort added support system that is, in my opinion, crucial for following through so that you can achieve your fat loss goals.
Two programs that I recommend are Turbulence Training, created by Craig Ballantyne, and Truth About Abs, which was created by Mike Geary.
Turbulence Training was designed to combine total-body weight and interval training exercises into simple and quick workout sessions formulated simply to burn fat. This program is designed so that you the user perform three intense 45-minute workouts per week. That's it! If you decide to check out this program, there is also a nutritional component that you will receive along with the workouts.
Truth About Abs is a little bit different than Turbulence Training in that Geary's main emphasis for burning fat is on nutrition. He goes into detail on exactly how to eat for massive fat loss. In addition, Mike walks you through lots of different exercises and workouts designed specifically for fat loss.
I have personally tried and used both programs with great results. Both sell for under $40, so you probably will not be taking a major financial risk by trying either one. These are some of my personal recommendations, but I would encourage you to do your own additional research as well.
